Most beginners focus on leaves and blooms. But the roots are where the real story is. Once you know how to read them, you'll never second-guess your care routine again.

🟢 GREEN — Healthy & Active Your orchid is thriving. Green roots are actively absorbing water and nutrients. Keep doing what you're doing.

⚪ SILVER — Thirsty Roots are dry and not absorbing moisture. Your orchid needs water. Soak and let her drink.

🟡 YELLOW — Waterlogged Risk Too much water. This is a warning sign — root rot is around the corner if this continues. Back off, improve airflow and check your watering frequency immediately.

🟤 BROWN — Dying Back Roots are dying. Often caused by overwatering, age, or disease. Trim the dead roots. Treat the cause. Give her a fresh start.

⚫ BLACK — Rotten (Dead) Root rot is present. Remove dead roots immediately to save your orchid. Cut it out, clean it up, save what you can.

The rule of thumb: Check the roots before you water — not a schedule on the calendar. When the roots go from green to silver-white, it's time. Not before.
